Hello Everyone (especially Delegates & Alternates),
I am running to be on the Democratic National Committee (DNC), and I hope I can count on your vote.
I am running because I want to represent the grassroots movement that has brought so many new democrats into the Party. I am also running because I want to represent the young adult voice, the voice of a new generation of Democrats, who are progressives and who want to see a change in the Party to become more open, inclusive, and welcoming.
I believe in the Democratic Party and I believe in the movement that has pushed Senator Bernie Sanders forward in this election. It is because of that for why I want to continue that movement by being a member of the DNC to create the change that Bernie Sanders stands for. I know that together we can create the change we seek.
I have been a Democratic Party activist and organizer since 2010, working on Mayoral campaigns, to working for President Barack Obama as an organizing fellow. Between all of that, I volunteered with the Iowa Pride Network to fight homophobia and transphobia in our state’s schools. Recently, I volunteered with Organizing for Action (OFA), as a spring fellow and worked for the progressive change that we voted for in 2012.
More about me:
- Former Pottawattamie County Democratic Party Affirmative Action Chair
- Former President of the Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) Democrats
I ask for your vote and let’s work together to build a strong progressive Democratic Party.
Sincerely,
Mika Jayne Covington
