How to be Queer in Your Gender!

Ok, so you all may or may not know but I am genderqueer! This means that I do not fit into the gender binary system as male or female. My gender can only be described as queer!

So how to be Queer in your gender. You must first be yourself no matter what your gender may be.  Don’t worry about what other people think you should be or what parts you have! It is about who you feel you are! Be who you want to be! Don’t let society or anyone tell you or assume what your gender is!

So to try and explain my gender.  I was born with male parts but I never felt like a male. At one point in my life I did identify as a transgender or transsexual and I wanted to transition into being a female. But that did not feel right. I did not feel like me. So I explored the idea of gender and what gender meant. Which finally led me to understanding the gender binary more and understanding fully that I really do not agree with it and that I believe people do not fit into being either male or female.  That gender is much more!

For me my gender is like this neither male nor female but both and neither. Yes some days I am more female and some days I am more male. However, you know I am somewhere in between them. Thus, I like to call my gender genderqueer.

To explain to you how I see the world is most difficult but I am going to try! Okay, so when I see a person I do not see a gender. I just see a person.  I don’t see the gender. I never have.  Nevertheless, society has taught me that I need to see the world with gender first. Well, I don’t, and I don’t want to.

So you wonder what my sexual orientation is now.  I will tell you! I like people. I like them for who they are what they are like. I don’t find sexual attraction to the gender. Therefore, in your gender binary mind I will date and have sex with both males, females, and everything in between that.

Well I hope this helps explain why my gender is queer.  If you have more questions please comment or send me a message on facebook.

  1. You sound like you are pansexual like me! I got tired of trying to figure out which side I was attracted to and realized that gender was not what was attracting me to anyone and it was the person. I actually date more people who do not fit into the “male” or “female” stereotypes than anyone else…

    1. I might be what you call pansexual, but I personally identify as queer for my sexual orientation. Like I have said, my gender identity is genderqueer and my gender expression can vary to day to day. Thank you for following my blog!

  2. Well, Mika, you may have male parts, but you write like a girl. 🙂
